The PCV valve is in the valve cover that's why you have to replace the whole cover if it goes bad and can't just pop a $1.99 PCV valve in it like you used to be able to. I've replaced both the intake manifold and valve covers on a customer's Cruze. Both were causing massive vacuum leaks and poor idling.

While the LE2 in the Gen2 is honestly...a MUCH better engine the the LUV in the Gen1, it still can have problems, though most of them are due to maintenance items or usage.
