Fae farm shipping contracts not working.

I think I've encountered a bug on the switch version of the game but I can't find any answers anywhere. I keep trying to accept a shipping contract (after doing the first quest where you fulfill one) and I can't accept it. I hold to accept and it takes me out of the menu like it's accepted it, but when I go back in all the options are available like I never took it. At the start of Fae Farm, the whirlpools sprinkling the ocean outside Azoria block off a sizable portion of the game.You won't be able to meet any Fae romance options in Fae Farm or pick up shipping contracts until you clear the whirlpools.
