EB2 India category is unavailable since November 20. This is due to huge demand in porting cases (around 150 per day from November 10 to November 20) from EB3 to EB2 category. This means there was demand for around 1,500 visas in just 10 days. Remember EB2 India quota is around 2,802 for the entire year.

Backlog will actually increase to even 21-25 months, given the recent spike in NIW applications, and the fact that FB to EB spillovers will cease to exist (almost), going from a total of 275,000 to 197,000 to 161,000 this FY. In the future ~145,000 or so, which means ~35,000 green cards for the year for EB-2 ROW (86% of 28.6% of ~145,000).

In October 2023, when the new FY starts, we will have roughly 36,000 GCs set aside for ROW countries in EB2. But the Apr 2022 - Dec 2022 demand alone is ~35,000. This means that EB2 will not jump forward to current status. Hell it might not even jump forward to 1st Jan 2023.
