03-16-2017, 06:16 PM. I have a 350 chevy engine that has the Edelbrock top end package with the 7102 cam. The previous owner installed a Pete Jackson gear drive and used the 2 degree retard insert for some reason. What should the result be by using the 2 degree retard versus being set a 0 degree. The engine is not very responsive at low end.

Then change oil and filter. When I started working with the advance curve and jetting, I realized right away that this was a little more than a mild cam. I can get about 16-17" of vacuum, which isn't too bad.
