Thread is from 2018. Still, Kenshi definitely feels like a game in which you really should just use the default start in your first game. Another thread recently, as well, about somebody being utterly lost by one of the alternative game starts. There aren't many towns in the game to not be able to choose. Pick a priority and follow it. You can't have a town in the center with good res and good shops because the center of the map only has like 5 towns each with disadvantages. Flats lagoon and mourn are cities where you can openly sell hashish. Like go straight up to the regular traders. Flats lagoon is the better option because there are 4-5 traders that keep 25k on deck. All shops in Flats Lagoon will pay 400%, if you're looking to unload lots of merchandise easily in one town.
