A single coat of Sherwin Williams Duration (2nd highest tier of paint - expensive but worth it) covered everything with no problem. No primer needed. Like I said, it was expensive, but I absolutely hate painting so if you're anything like me I'd recommend going with high quality paint versus trying to prime and then apply multiple coats of paint afterwards.
