My doctor was shocked to see twins at my ultrasound.Also, if the first hCG level is 48; it could still be a twin pregnancy. Thus, a single hCG level cannot distinguish between a singleton and a twin pregnancy. Of course, if the first hCG level is say, 1200 mIU/mL; it is most like a multiple pregnancy — but you cannot be sure till the ultrasound a couple of weeks later. (CW warning, mention of CP) My beta at 12dpo was 14 for my CP with low progesterone. My beta this pregnancy at 13dpo is 178 with "adequate Progesterone" (msg from dr haven't seen the numbers yet).Typically, the hCG level for twins will be around 30-50% higher when compared with a single pregnancy at somewhere about 200 - 1750 mlU/ml. hCG levels may double every two or three days when you're in the early stages of pregnancy.
