Had the most success with roughly 2/4 heavy spearmen, 1/4 archers, and 1/4 cav. With 450 cavalrists , they are outnumbered 2.41 to 1. They suffer 89% unit losses. this in fact is realistic as fuck How much difference in skill and equipment do you think lies between the best of the infantry and a heavy cavalrist to justify cavalry to perform significantly better while being outnumbered twice as hard as infantrymen?But they take heavy casualties against dedicated shield infantry units, since their 2h is a sword and not an axe, and their range is not capable of whittling a disciplined shield wall advancing. Not to mention no defense against a massed cav charge if that shield wall is nearby. I love fians, dont get me wrong. Good infantry. The best ranged.

If they have lots of archers, square formation can be painful.. but still beats other alternatives. For example, you have infantry in square formation ahead of your archers. Enemy infantry tries to envelope your square, then you charge. It gives your archers plenty of places to shoot. #13.

I made a post a few years back asking for something similar, and I got 40% infantry, 40% ranged, and 20% Cavalry. The Infantry would act as a wall while the ranged troops did most of the work, and keep the cavalry in reserve to deal with enemy units out of the ranged troop's range, or trying to flank the formation.My wildlings seem to do very well in sieges.
