2002 Durango big v-8. intermittent starting problem. with key on not engaging the starter if the gauges light up it will start. If the gages don't light up it will not. I started it drove several miles while sitting in a parking lot it just quit. Check all the connections between the starter and battery. You could also check voltage drop when you engage the starter, both at the battery and also on the starter motor lead. The first time the issue showed up was when I pushed the start button and took longer than usual to fire up. After that, the issue started to show up intermittently taking longer every time to fire up, but always started.
