Parts of the trigger assembly are plastic. The breech plug is no where near as good as the CVA BH209 plug and seals worse that either QRBP. Upper end CVAs have adjustable triggers too. Some are really good shooters and others I have had a hard time keeping on paper at 50 yards. The Accura is far better than the wolf from the ones that I have handled.CVA Optima is a budget champ at $259.99 with a lifetime warranty, but the knight Disc guarantees 3 inch groups at 200 yards at $499.99. The wolf used to be their intro gun. I have an Optima, and it's a fine shooter. And it's an older model. Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer. Aug 7, 2018. Messages. 2,900. Location. Saskatchewan. I shoot a CVA Wolf and use two 777 50gr pellets, that combo killed A LOT of deer and one moose. Enjoy! The Nitrofire is less expensive than the accura MR-X but a little more than the optima. Just seems like a simple easy to use system and maybe more consistent since the fire sticks are all done at the factory and should all be exactly the same weights of powder in each one. Re: CVA Accura vs CVA Optima. I have shot both and saw no difference in accuracy. CVA advertises the Accura as their premium rifle to justify the higher price. They say it has a Bergara barrel, but I think the Optima has one also, just not advertised to get customers to pay out more $$$.Optima vs Wolf 26" fluted barrel vs 24" non-fluted 41" overall length vs. 39" 6.65 pounds vs. 6.25 Break action is different between the two Supposedly longer barrels have higher velocity and better powder burn. Larger charges and a longer barrel means more room to burn powder down length of barrel. They can also be more accurate than shorter. To me the difference in barrel length is a non-issue. For a few years, and many deers, i have been carrying a 23" barrel. It works good. However, in my opinion, the opening/closing latch on the Optima V2 is a way more better than the latch on the Wolf. My choice would be the Optima V2, because of the latch mechanism. It’s smooth, breaks cleanly with 3-4 pounds of pressure, and has very little overtravel. The CVA Optima Northwest has a 1:28” rifling twist, making it suitable for most full size (non-saboted) projectiles. CVA recommends using PowerBelt bullets. This is not surprising, considering they are made by the same company.

Featuring a QRBP (Quick-Release Breech Plug), which is really easy to remove without tools, the CVA Optima is very simple to clean and maintain. It’s also compact, lightweight, and easy to carry. Compared to the Wolf, the CVA Optima has a slightly longer, 26″ fluted barrel (instead of a 24″ non-fluted barrel) and a stock with a cheek riser. The CVA Optima V2 weighs in at 6.65 pounds which is under our benchmark for a lightweight muzzleloader. With an overall length of only 41” it is one of the most compact muzzleloaders on our list, but that doesn’t impede its accuracy.
